Peter Cockhill

Peter is a well-known investment funds lawyer with more than twenty years’ experience in investment funds, international mergers and acquisitions and corporate law. His focus within the group is in legal project management with particular strength in investment funds, private equity and international mergers and acquisitions. He previously worked at Ogier, a major offshore law firm, where he was the head of the global investment funds team, managing partner of the Cayman firm and served on the group’s management board as head of strategy. He began his legal career with Hogan Lovells in London


Peter has extensive experience in advising fund boards, managers and institutional investors on fund related regulatory, legal, structural and operational issues and his corporate practice includes advising multinational financial institutions and high net worth individuals on licensing, finance and establishing structures for managing assets and effecting international acquisitions.

Peter has served as a director of Cayman Finance including a period as chairman of its strategy committee and currently serves as a trustee of the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce Pension Plan. He is also a founder member and former chairman of Hedge Funds Care Cayman, is a member of the Cayman grants committee and a global board member of Hedge Funds Care.

Peter was educated at the Universities of York and Cambridge, and the College of Law in the UK. He holds a B. A. degree with First Class honours and the Common Professional Exam and Law Society Finals qualifications in Law. He has spoken at numerous international industry conferences and before leaving private practice to become legal director at JP Integra Group he was consistently recognised as a leading financial services lawyer in influential legal professional databases such as Chambers Global and Legal 500 (Tier 1 and Senior Statesman status). He is a member of the Cayman Islands Law Society and the Caymanian Bar Association.
